Journalizing maps out the terrain, if you can see the scope, you can chart the navigation. It is a way to keep track of the state, projection and progress in order to adapt oneself to become a protean version to transcend the current demarcations to expand the possibilities of one’s life itself.

Daily reflection distills our thinking and refines the mind. I keep reminding my students to write their journals at 2359 hour as a closing thought ritual for the day before the midnight cross over for the next day. Some notes should include under-addressed and unanswered questions mined from the day. However, those questions do not come from thinking alone. They should be mined from proactive exploration in the hope and determination of discovery.

Self-discovery should be a daily thing. My father and grandfather used to constantly remind me that there are 1440 minutes a day, and every moment is an opportunity for power. “Empower yourself, refine yourself always — reflect deeply and clearly 3 times daily”, he said. Life is very short, waste no moment on trivialities.

We have to question on the deepest essence of matter and ideas to mine and extract the purest of life. — 2013–10.24

I recommend isolating ourselves for ~20 mins 3 times a day. Personally,
1. In the morning, I am task-oriented, I target 3 things to be completed by the end of the day…
