Animals have evolved a wide range of deceptive behaviors to survive and reproduce in their environments such as to camouflage, feign death, trick their preys and predators, to survive the day.

When the snake is in the house, one need not discuss the matter at length. - African ProverbMating: Some animals, such as polyandrous species, will cheat on their partners by mating with multiple individuals, increasing their chances of reproducing. Some males may also use deception to attract females, such as by mimicking the signals of another species.

Foraging: Some animals may cheat or lie to secure food resources. For example, some birds will mimic the calls of predators to scare off other birds and claim a food source for themselves.

Social interactions: Some animals may use deception to gain social advantages. For example, some primates will conceal their true intentions or emotions to manipulate others in their group.

Camouflage: Some animals have evolved to look like something else or have a disguise to hide from predators or to approach their prey more closely. They can also use false signals to mislead predators or prey.

Decoys: Some animals, such as the arctic fox, will create decoys of themselves to distract predators and increase their chances of survival.
