Think Clearly — Cost, Price, Worth, Value

People keep getting these wrong, and by not understanding the concepts, we tend to trade off the wrong things for another, mistaking the terms of trade-off as the same.

Worth

`Worth` is one of the most misused and abused terms. Worth largely depends on how you utilize it.

If you have a formula for nuclear fusion sitting in your cabinet, the worth may never find its manifest. The same when Nikola Tesla was struggling in the room where he could not even pay the rent. Who knows what was littered around that room. It could be yet another tragic requiem of the Archimedes Palimpsest.

What was Archimedes worth and valued for when he was found by the Roman soldier with his circles when the Syracuse (213–212 BC) was sieged and breached? It would be the deepest regrets of Marcus Claudius Marcellus.

The next issue is the concept of self-worth. Is it true worth we are speaking about or net-worth? Are they seen to be the same? If so, people’s true worth may be no more than a price tag.

Your worth is something you do not sell. It does not require someone’s assessment of you. While your net worth may change, your self-worth does not.

Low self-esteem is caused fundamentally by distorted and over-thinking what other people think about you and using the measures of the society to determine your own worth. On the reversal:
1. Most people don’t think about you all the time…
