That is awareness. Words fails us.

The question is - how do we quantify consciousness - the awareness that the self exists. In comatose, the person is not aware, and as well, when someone lack a certain state of awareness, the emergent of that state of self does not exist.

Therein, there exists a certain minimal form of hardware (e.g. certain structures of microtubules? ) and software (e.g. memories, and how are these formed and expressed in hardware terms) for the "person" to exist, but what are they?
