How To Drive Home A Point
Now You Cannot Unhear It, Unsee It, Un-Think It Or Un-feel It
To communicate, it is not enough to simply say what you mean. To truly be effective, the last 2 inches of the crack of the whip is the critical crux, you must be able to drive your point home with glaring clarity and impactful conviction.
Aristotle stated that there are 3 modes of persuasion: Ethos, Logos, and Pathos. How can we use that to drive home a point?
“A speech is like a love affair. Any fool can start it, but to end it requires considerable skill.” — Lord Mancroft
I did not overstate or understate the facts, I merely positioned my words to make the situation clearer. — 2011–12.24
Pathos
Before you speak — find your stance and starting point, and you can build your momentum from the point you overcome that inertia.
Emotives (Incite, Arouse and Excite)
Emotion is a strong dose of vehicle to tool the path for driving a point home. If you can connect with your audience on an emotional level, you are more likely to persuade them to see things your way. Use powerful imagery or personal stories to create an emotional connection with your audience.
One of the effective ways is to arouse intense feelings. The superior way is to `speak from the heart`.
