Holding Numbers

Utilization of the `Centum Amici System`

The chapter assumes that you have constructed your personal table of `100 Friends`. As a practice, you can have it on your side for references, and gradually over time, it should become a `language for your memory`.

Here we try to see how it helps us to memorize numbers. When a long chain of numbers is given to us, the first step is — Divide et Impera.

Given a long chain of numbers, break them into chunks of 3’s , 4’s, 6’s and 8’s. Then translate the numbers into a story format.

Johann Gottlieb Fichte drew the relation between the 3 abstract terms of the triad (Synthesis, Antithesis, Thesis), also known as the dialectical method, to describe a story structure.

The beginning context is termed as (1) a thesis, (2) the challenge to the thesis forming the crisis of the story is called the antithesis, and lastly, (3) the relief and resolution of the antithesis is called the synthesis where a new proposition is formed. This is akin the fate structure of the Greek Goddesses, Moirai, or the 3 sisters of fate — Clotho (spinner), Lachesis (allotter) and Atropos (unturnable).
